Elvie - Live Project

Updated: Apr 25

Introduction

This was a really fun and collaborative 5-week live project working with some of the team from Elvie, a Femtech company, founded by Tania Boler and Alexander Asseily, who designs, develops, and manufactures connected technology aimed to empower women through smart technology and address previously neglected issues in women's health.

Project Brief

To design a new product/accessory for one of Elvie’s flagship pump products. The product/accessory should aid the feeding workflow. How might we save users time and effort as they undertake their feeding workflow either inside or out of the home?

The product/accessory could be an ‘add on’ to an existing Elvie product or an independent product that could address another area of the pumping workflow

The Problem

Many breastfeeding parents struggle to find the right fit with existing nipple cushions due to limited size options and the inability to return or exchange products. Home measurements often lead to inaccuracies and fail to accommodate changes in size and shape during the breastfeeding journey.

Product Ideation

Revised Brief

To design an adaptable nipple cushion with focus on the user's comfort. To consider inclusivity, sustainability, and portability of the commonly used product. Designing to encourage easy and frequent use, as well as changes that occur to the nipple during different stages of breast feeding. Aiming to assist with the mental load and difficulties finding different sizes, while aiming to use less wasted materials. Deliverables will include a working prototype with friendly packaging, an information booklet user guide, sizing guide, and product presentation
